Hon`ble Vice President of India Visits Delhi Metro
Shri M Hamid Ansari, Hon’ble Vice President of India, made a visit to Delhi Metro today and travelled from Central Secretariat to Vishwavidyalaya Metro station. At Vishwavidyalaya, he acquainted himself with the system by getting off the train, going down to the concourse level and returning to the opposite platform for boarding the return train to Patel Chowk Metro station. At Patel Chowk Metro station, he visited the Metro Museum which is not only South Asia`s first modern Metro Museum but also the only such installation worldwide in an operational Metro station.
The Hon’ble Vice President praised the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation as an organization which has established benchmarks in cleanliness, punctuality and latest Metro technology for the country. He also praised Dr. E Sreedharan and his team for establishing the Delhi Metro and making it a pride of India. He described his travel in the Delhi Metro as “This is a remarkable achievement. It has done great public good. Citizen of Delhi and of India are proud of it. I congratulate Delhi Metro and all its personnel for the excellence of their work and for their dedication. It is a model for all of us”.
The Hon’ble Vice-President was presented a model of the Metro train as a memento. Hon’ble Vice President was accompanied by the Hon’ble Lieutenant Governor of Delhi, Sh. Tejendra Khanna, Managing Director of DMRC, Dr. E Sreedharan and other senior DMRC officials.
