Shri Dinesh Trivedi, Minister of Railways, made a visit to Delhi Metro today and travelled from Central Secretariat to Lajpat Nagar Metro station and back. The minister praised the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation as an organization which has established benchmarks in cleanliness, punctuality and modern railway technology for the country especially the suburban system. He expressed the desire to have similar technology and culture for other Metro and subway systems which will be developed by the railways. He also praised Dr. E Sreedharan and his team for establishing the Delhi Metro and making it pride of India. He described his travel in the Delhi Metro as “Truly World Class”.

The Minister was accompanied by Chairman, Railway Board, Shri Vinay Mittal, Member Mechanical, Railway Board, Shri Sanjiv Handa, Chairman and Managing Director (CMD) of Bharat Earth Movers Limited (BEML), Shri V.R.S. Natarajan and Director (Rail & Metro) of BEML, Shri P. Dwarkanath and was particularly keen to travel on the modern Metro coaches made by the BEML at Bangalore in standard gauge. He also travelled in the Bombardier train of broad gauge from Central Secretariat to Race Course and back.
