METRO MUSEUM CELEBRATES 9TH ANNIVERSARY
‘MUSEUM FOR CHILDREN’ INITIATIVE LAUNCHED AND GIANT REPLICA OF DELHI METRO’S NEW AGE TRAIN UNVEILED
On the occasion of its ninth anniversary, the Delhi Metro Museum today launched the ‘Museum For Children’ initiative as part of which the museum will be organising a number of activities oriented towards developing the city’s children into responsible Metro commuters.
Visits to the Metro, workshops etc will be organised as part of the programme. On the occasion, a ‘Museum For Children’ booklet was unveiled and an exhibition on the same theme was inaugurated by DMRC’s first lady, Smt. Veerbala. In the booklet and the exhibition, all the activities organised by Delhi Metro so far for children are featured.
To commemorate the occasion, children and youth from the organisation ‘Action For Autism’ participated in the programme. A conducted Metro ride followed by a tour of the Metro Museum was organised specially for them. ‘They also participated in a short cultural programme afterwards. Delhi Metro’s acclaimed puppet show on Metro traveling etiquette was also performed for the invitees.
A special book titled ‘Challenging the Limits’ which encapsulates the engineering challenges of the recently inaugurated Magenta corridor was also unveiled on the occasion by Smt. Veerbala in the presence of the wives of DMRC’s functional directors.
A replica of the front side of the new age trains of Delhi Metro, which have recently been launched on the Magenta Line, was also unveiled. The new exhibit sized 9 ft by 6.5 ft is made of MS sheet and is expected to be a major attraction for the visitors. AD/ED (CC)/DMRC
