Lieutenant Governor Shri Najeeb Jung takes a ride in the Delhi Metro, appreciates delhi metro for its efforts
The Hon’ble Lieutenant Governor of NCT of Delhi, Shri Najeeb Jung, today visited the Delhi Metro system and appreciated the initiatives taken by Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) in ensuring a sustainable urban transport system in India. He was accompanied by Dr. Mangu Singh, Managing Director/DMRC throughout the visit.
Sh. Najeeb Jung boarded the Metro at the Civil Lines Metro station and travelled upto Race Course Metro station. At Race Course Metro station he visited the ‘Crafts Map of India’ Gallery. He appreciated the efforts taken by DMRC to promote the Indian art and culture among its commuters. He then boarded the Metro train for Patel Chowk and visited the Metro Museum there. He also travelled to Rajiv Chowk Metro station and inspected the crowd management facilities of the station and interchange of passengers between Line-2 and Line-3/4. He also expressed satisfaction at the way huge passenger rush is handled by DMRC at interchange stations during peak hours.
At the end of his visit to the Metro system, Hon’ble LG said: “The Delhi Metro is a symbol of what Indian Engineers can achieve. It’s an example for the ‘developed’ world in sheer efficiency and good administration. It is a symbol of Modern India – its undaunting spirit and desire to progress. As Indians, we salute Delhi Metro”.
The LG also visited the Delhi Metro Headquarters at the Metro Bhawan and was briefed about DMRC’s present progress and future plans by MD/DMRC. Other senior officials of DMRC were also present during the presentation.
