DELHI METRO UNDERTAKING HOST OF ACTIVITIES FROM 17TH SEP-2ND OCT 2017 TO COMMEMORATE 3RD ANNIVERSARY OF 'SWACHH BHARAT MISSION'
TO COMMEMORATE 3RD ANNIVERSARY OF ‘SWACHH BHARAT MISSION’, DELHI METRO IS UNDERTAKING HOST OF ACTIVITES FROM 17th SEP- 2nd OCT 2017 FOR PROMOTING CLEANLINESS IN PUBLIC PLACES UNDER THE THEME ‘SWACHHATA HI SEVA
To commemorate the 3rd anniversary of ‘Swachh Bharat Mission’ launched by Government of India on 2nd October 2014, the Delhi Metro is undertaking host of activities from 17th September to 2nd October 2017 under the theme ‘Swachhata hi Sewa’ to promote cleanliness in and around Metro premises. The objective of this campaign is to reinforce the message of cleanliness amongst public and work towards a clean and better environment for all its installations and nearby surroundings. The campaign has covered/will cover a host of activities during this period as listed below:1. 17.09.2017 (Sewa Divas):
The campaign was launched today at 10 AM with Swachh Bharat Pledge taken by all the DMRC/CISF/Contractual staff on duty at all the Metro stations, Depots, Construction sites and residential colonies of the Delhi Metro. The day was observed as ‘Seva Diwas’ where Shramdaan was done by Dr. Mangu Singh, MD/DMRC, Directors/DMRC and other senior officials near Metro Enclave, Pushp Vihar from 10 AM to 12 Noon, which was simultaneously followed by staff/officials at all Metro stations/depots/sites etc. in the spirit of creating ‘zero-waste office’. 2. 18.09.2017 to 23.09.2017:
During this period, DMRC will undertake extensive cleaning at all its premises, removal of posters, debris, damaged items etc. from Metro properties, viaducts, station area and guide/counsel general public to abstain from defacing Metro property. A series of Street Plays (Nukkad Nataks) will also be organized at major Metro stations spanning across the entire Delhi-NCR network of the Delhi Metro for wider public awareness on cleanliness during this period 3. 24.09.2017 (Samagra Swachhata Divas):
DMRC officials at all stations and construction sites will liaison with concerned civic authorities like MCD, NDMC, GDA, NOIDA, MCG,MCF etc. and observe the day as ‘Samagra Swachhata’ divas by carrying out intensive cleaning, removal of encroachment, beggars/vendors etc. in and around Metro premises.4. 25.09.2017 (Sarvatra Swachhata Divas):
The day will be observed by large scale cleaning at all Metro premises to ensure ‘Sarvatra Swachhta’. To encourage and inspire general public/passengers on the importance of cleanliness, jingles and messages will be run at all Metro stations through Public Announcement and Display system besides running of short audio visual films at select Metro stations.5. 26.09.2017 to 02.10.2017:
The Delhi Metro will be organizing an ‘Online Slogan Writing Competition’ on the topic ‘Swachh Metro’ for all its Smart Card Users from 26th September 2017 to 2nd October 2017. The online entries in English and Hindi will be accepted for this competition on our website www.delhimetrorail.com. The winners will be awarded by Delhi Metro.
Subsequently, Delhi Metro will also observe the ‘Swachhata Pakhwada’ from 1st to 15th October 2017 wherein, the emphasis will be on conducting the cleanliness drives at all Metro stations, display of messages and running of Jingles through PA system etc.
The Delhi Metro has been considered as one of the most neat and clean Metro systems in the world. Ever since the beginning of Swachh Bharat Mission in the year 2014, DMRC in its entirety, had been following and practicing the objectives of this mission and it has been decided that the mission would continue with renewed vigour.AD/ED/CC/DMRC
