DMRC ORGANISES PLANTATION DRIVES AS PART OF DELHI GOVERNMENTS MEGA TREE PLANTATION DRIVE
The Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) also participated in the Mega Tree Plantation Drive of the Delhi Government by organising plantation drives at Sarai Kale Khan and Qudsia Park.
Children from schools in the vicinity along with their parents, of these locations as well as the children from DMRC’s Children’s Home at Tis Hazari participated in the plantation programme on Saturday, where about 2,500 saplings were planted.
DMRC has always been very conscious of its responsibilities towards the conservation of the environment. Ever since the beginning of the project, regular plantation drives have been organised at its premises. In August, 2017, ‘Swachh Chetna – DMRC Eco Club’ initiative was launched as part which DMRC has associated with many schools for the organising plantation programmes.
In July, 2018, one such plantation drive was organised at Ajronda in Faridabad where more than 300 school children had participated. DMRC has planted about 20,000 saplings in the month of July and August this year in its maintenance depots, staff quarters, stations and under the viaduct.
