METRO MUSEUM CELEBRATES 10th ANNIVERSARY
The
Metro Museum of Delhi Metro Rail Corporation marked its 10th anniversary
today. Established in the year 2008, the Metro Museum has been a special
attraction for visitors and commuters of Delhi Metro over the past decade. The
Museum has also been the venue for various events and initiatives taken up for
children by the Corporate Communication Department of DMRC.
On
the occasion of its 10th anniversary, the Delhi Metro Museum
today held a series of activities at the Metro Museum located at Patel Chowk
Metro Station. More than 30 girl children from the NGO – Rose Udaan Children
Home for Girls were invited to visit Metro Museum and take part in the 10th anniversary
celebrations.
The
children visited the Metro Museum and were informed of the history of Delhi
Metro. A magic show by magicians from Delhi School of Magic was also organised
for the children. Following this, a story telling session by Ms. Jayashree from
Story Ghar was organised for the children. Later, the girl children performed
cultural activities. This is in continuation of the ‘Museum for Children’
initiative which was launched during 9th anniversary of Metro
Museum.
As
part of the ‘Museum for Children’ initiative, a series of events were organised
for children throughout the year. Several workshops, metro rides, competitions
and a film festival for underprivileged children were held throughout the year
2018.
A
photo collage exhibition ‘Metro Museum: A Decade to Remember’ to showcase the
10-year journey of the museum was inaugurated by the chief guest of the event
and DMRC’s first lady, Smt. Veerbala in the presence of the wives of DMRC’s functional directors.
Marking
the 10th anniversary, the chief guest also launched the new
souvenir items of Metro Museum. Following this, the new edition of ‘Metro
Museum Digest’ was presented to chief guest and other guests by Sh. Anuj Dayal,
Metro Museum Administrator and Executive Director, Corporate Communications,
DMRC.
