There have been some tweets/photo/videos going viral wherein it is seen that people are standing inside the train though there is no standing travel allowed as per the revised guidelines coming into effect from today.
In this regard, it is to mention that today is the very first day of the revised guidelines and many people are still not fully aware of the fact that the Metro is offering only 1/5th (20%) of its passenger capacity in a train and not 100% as is the general impression which has been created in the past couple of days through various reports.
Some people are still under the impression that alternate seats are not to be occupied and preferred to stand during travel causing such a temporary situation in certain trains in some sections.
DMRC has taken note of such a situation arising in morning peak hours and to avoid recurrence, will further strengthen its regulated entry and also advises public to occupy seats (all) only during travel and abstain from travel by standing as it is still not permissible as per the guidelines of the authorities concerned. In addition, regular flying squads will also keep a random check across the corridors to counsel and prevent peole from doing so.
To quell the general public impression of this fully available services from today, DMRC once again reiterates that the Delhi Metro at present is permitted to allow 20% of its passenger capacity of a train which is full seating capacity and not 100% of the complete service as is being inferred by some media while informing their viewers/readers. This stipulation leaves DMRC with a very limited passenger capacity though DMRC is providing full services in terms of trains, trips and frequency as was during pre-Covid days
The public are thus advised to avail Metro services only when absolutely necessary to adhere to the prevalent guidelines.
