4TH CONFERENCE ON GREEN METRO SYSTEMS BY DMRC & IGBC HELD AT METRO BHAWAN

Corporation Limited (DMRC) in association with Confederation of
Indian Industry (CII) - Indian
Green Building Council (IGBC) organized 4th edition of National Conference on
Green Metro Systems today at Metro Bhawan. The conference had active participation from the
Industry and the Metro Rail Corporations of India.
The conference had three technical sessions highlighting the urgent need
for attention towards the challenges being faced for Natural Resources
Conservation, one session each was held on Water Management, Waste Management
and Energy Efficiency Measures, where experts shared their knowledge &
experiences.
The inaugural session
was marked by presenting IGBC Green PLATINUM plaques to Noida Metro line and
Special Recognition for DMRC on having 100+ IGBC Platinum rated stations. On
this occasion, IGBC conferred Dr. Mangu Singh, MD DMRC, “Green Leadership
Award” for his pioneering role for Greening of Metros & setting up
benchmarks.
Addressing the
Conference on Green Metro Systems 2019, Dr. Mangu Singh, called on the need and
importance to conserve environment and present a better world to the future
generation. Transport sector is one of the major energy consumers and thus has
a major stake also in the carbon emissions. Hence, it is the need of the hour
for all the metro organizations to lead from the front in bringing down their
energy and water consumption, etc. They should also explore new innovative ways
to optimize resources and strive towards updation of the efficiency measures
taken earlier and move towards more and more efficient systems. Mr. Singh also
focused on the need of promoting clean energy specially by focusing on Solar
energy, both offsite and roof-top. He applauded the concerted efforts of IGBC
& DMRC in spearheading the Green Metro Movement in the Country.
