Check-In Facility to be available from Shivaji Stadium metro station of airport express line from 01st July 2016

In order to facilitate IGI Airport bound passengers travelling on the Airport Express Line of the Delhi Metro Network, the city check-in facility is being started from Shivaji Stadium Metro station from 1st July 2016. At present, city-check-in was available for Air India only at New Delhi station of the Airport Express Line for domestic sector and few gulf countries.

From 1st July 2016 onwards, flight passengers of Air India and Jet Airways will be able to do city check- in for domestic and international flights from both the New Delhi as well as Shivaji Stadium station of the Airport Express Line.

Flight passengers of Air India and Jet Airways can check in their baggage from these two Metro stations from 02 hours to 12 hours before the scheduled departure of the flight. The flight check-in facility from the stations would close two hours prior to the departure time. For more details on City Check-in, passengers may contact Helpline Numbers of Air India and Jet Airways or DMRC Helpline No. 155370.

The airport passengers can obtain their boarding pass at the city check-in counter and check-in the luggage as well. The checked-in baggage will be transferred to IGI Airport’s Terminal-3, through a secured Baggage Handling System (BHS). The highly sophisticated BHS ensures that baggage reaches airport in time.Free luggage trolleys are also available for passengers at the entry gates and platforms at all Metro stations of the Airport Express Line.

This is one of the many measures that the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) has taken for the convenience of the passengers on the Airport Express Line. The frequency of the trains on this line is enhanced to 10 minutes throughout the peak hours i.e. 08:00 AM to 08:00 PM. DMRC has also reduced passenger fares on the Airport Express Line by up to 50 percent for greater convenience of the commuters. A Visa Facilitation Service (VFS) was also introduced recently at the Shivaji Stadium Metro Station of the Airport Express Line. Increase in frequency of trains, improvement of timings, adjustment of the departure timings as per the arrival of Shatabadi Express trains are some of the measures that have already been taken earlier. The average daily ridership of Airport Express Line is around 36000.
