DELHI METRO LAUNCHES CLEAN AND GREEN DRIVE AT HUDA CITY CENTRE METRO STATION A NEW INITIATIVE FOR A GREEN ENVIRONMENT
Taking its pledge of providing a clean and green environment, Delhi Metro in collaboration with M/s Nurturing Green Retail Pvt. Ltd. today started a “Clean & Green Drive” at the HUDA City Centre Metro station which was launched by Shri Vipul Goel, Hon’ble Cabinet Minister for Ministry of Environment, Industrial Training and Industries & Commerce, Govt. of Haryana, in the presence of Dr. Mangu Singh, Managing Director DMRC Ltd. and other senior DMRC and Haryana Government Officials. This launch was followed by a ‘Cleanliness & Plant Distribution Drive’ in the vicinity of the station.
As per this unique initiative by DMRC, M/s Nurturing Green Retail Pvt. Ltd. will also develop and maintain the complete horticulture area from Patel Chowk to HUDA City Centre Metro station for a period of six years.
The HUDA City Centre Metro Station will have various facilities for those who are passionate about nurturing and caring for their environment, like The Nurturing Green Studio and O2, an exclusive purified air center, which will be the only place with purest & pollution free air maintained along with NASA approved special air purifying plants to continuously maintain the clean atmosphere. Nurturing Green Studio is an exclusive theme based complete garden store.
Delhi Metro is committed towards the Government of India’s “Swachh Bharat Mission” wholeheartedly and has been undertaking a host of activities under the theme “Swachhta Hi Sewa.
The various activities organized by Delhi Metro in recent days were observance of Sewa Diwas, Samagra Swachhata Diwas and Sarvatra Swachhata Diwas which included extensive cleaning at all its premises and guiding/counselling general public to abstain from defacing Metro property. DMRC also organized a number of Nukkad Nataks at major stations highlighting the importance of cleanliness.
In the recent past, DMRC’s Eco Club has also organized the ‘Swachh Chetna’ – tree plantation drive across a number of locations in Delhi and NCR to promote environmental conservation. DMRC has also tied up with the World Wide Fund (WWF) to start the ‘Adopt a tree’ campaign. As part of this campaign, 6,000 saplings of native tree species were distributed at 15 Metro stations to individuals free of cost.
Delhi Metro has always been very conscious about its responsibilities towards the environment. Delhi Metro has become the world’s first ever Metro system to get green certification for all its major buildings and installations. It is also the world’s first rail based system to claim carbon credits. DMRC plants about five to ten thousand saplings every year as part of its green initiatives.AD/ED(CC)/DMRC
