CLARIFICATIONS REGARDING YESTERDAY'S PRESS RELEASE ON 'CASHLESS TRANSACTIONS FROM 10 METRO STATIONS FROM 1st JANUARY 2017'

In connection with yesterday's Press Release on 'Cashless Transactions from 10 Metro stations from 1st January, 2017', following facts are re-presented to allay misgivings circulating in social media/certain section of media regarding why only PayTm or why no other choice for cashless transaction by DMRC:   

1. Regarding Cashless transactions at 10 stations through PayTM only,it is to mention that PayTM is only one of the methods available in DMRC for facilitating such transactions ( *and not the only method* ). 

2. Ticket Vending Machines (TVMs) and  POS machines also available at these stations where a passnger can easily  get his transactions done in cash/ credit/debit card. This doesnt require anyone to have PayTm app. 


3. Process to rope in other such players (EWallet) is underway and very soon other Ewallet agencies will also be there to facilitate cashless transactions at Metro stations providing further multiple options/choice to the passengers.

4. Also, one ticket issue counter will be there at each station wherein a passenger can buy tokens in cash.

The idea is to encourage more and more public to adopt cashless transaction methods for traveling in Metro thereby, providing multiple hassle free options to commuters. 
Since DMRC at present have ongoing agreement with PayTm only who bagged the contract through open tender process for encouraging cashless smart card top up so, PayTm was the natural choice to make a start for cashless transactions  at 10 stations

This will also help avoid/ discourage instances of manipulation of money on ticket window and help overcome issue of adequate change availability,
