DELHI METROS ARRANGEMENTS TO FACILITATE PASSENGERS/SPECTATORS DURING FIFA WORLD CUP MATCHES BEING HELD IN DELHI
In order to facilitate the spectators visiting the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium for watching Junior FIFA World cup matches scheduled in Delhi for four days i.e, on 6th,9th,12th & 16th October 2017, Delhi Metro has made under mentioned arrangements:-
1. Special time table has been implemented on these days on Line-6 with a frequency of 3 min 20 second till 11 PM as the match venue is very near to JLN Stadium and Jangpura Metro station of the Line. In normal days, this frequency is available till 8:30 PM only.
2. Ten manual ticket counters (in addition to regular ticket counters) have been opened at ground level of JLN Stadium Metro station whereas, six additional manual counters are opened at Jangpura station on match days so that sudden rush of passengers (after match is over) can get tokens at a fast pace with pre-vended tokens available at these special counters at the ground level itself.
3. Additional deployment of ticketing and security staff has been done at JLN Stadium and Jangpura Metro stations during these days to facilitate passengers/spectators.
4. Officers have been deployed on special duty at Operation Control Centre and at these stations to closely supervise and facilitate smooth services.
Average ridership of both JLN stadium and Jangpura stations in September 2017 was around 10000 and 7000 respectively, which increased by over 100% on first two days when matches were held in the Stadium on 6th and 9th October 2017. JLN Stadium and Jangpura station recorded an average ridership of around 22000 and 11500 respectively on these two days.AD/ED (CC)/DMRC
